I am blessed to say that I have been working with children for 10 years. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education-Administration from Granite State College and am a level 7 Direct Care Professional with Maine Roads to Quality. I am also excited to be applying for my Master’s Degree this spring. Before opening Academy of Little Learners in 2008, I worked at Bethel Christian Academy in Portsmouth NH. I have worked with infants, toddlers and preschoolers as well as teaching a private kindergarten class. Besides this school, I am most proud to be a mom! I have three beautiful children ages 11, 7 and 6. I have learned so much from children. One of the most important things I have learned is that children of all ages are driven to learn and explore. They want to absorb everything they can and it is our jobs as teachers to make sure we are providing them that opportunity. I love watching children grow! I have not only been fortunate enough to work and be with my own children during their first stages in life, but have also been privileged to be a part of so many others.
I feel so lucky to work with not only some of the greatest teachers, but also some of the nicest (and funniest) people I know! More than half the teachers at Academy of Little Learners have worked here since we opened 7 and a half years ago. Many of the teachers actually worked with me at Bethel Christian Academy. They helped me open ALL and have been so loyal and dedicated to this school and to the children.
As the Academy has grown so has our staff! I work closely with the early childhood department at York Community College. I am proud that Academy of Little Learners is also a learning place for students preparing for a degree in early childhood. Some of the teachers started as interns and have decided to stay on as full time employees. Most all of the teachers have not only many years of experience, but are in the process of completing either their CDA (Child Development Associate from the National Credentialing Program) or are taking classes to complete their college degrees. All teachers are also required to maintain annual training hours required by the state of Maine. The teachers that work at ALL have the same passion and drive as I do. We understand that we are not just preparing children to reach thier next milestone or to be ready for kindergarten, we are helping them to be happy, self confident, compassionate people who will continue to be eager to learn throughout their lives!
