At the Academy of Little Learners, the philosophy and curriculum are based on the idea that children benefit from a balance of teacher-directed and child-initiated learning activities. We offer a developmentally appropriate early childhood education program that meets the needs of the "whole child" and encourages the power of play. We facilitate and foster the growth and development of young children physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually in a happy, safe and nurturing environment. Teaching children individuality, self-discovery, cooperation, inquisitiveness and respect for themselves, others and their surroundings are our main priorities. Combined with the incorporation of art, music, mathematics, language, science, and discovery, children benefit from an empowered relationship with the world around them.
At Academy of Little Learners, the exploration of different materials and processes is more important than a finished product. Children need to be actively involved in their learning which is why it is our mission to provide all children with opportunities to ask questions, make decisions, search for meaning, be absorbed, engage in conversation, solve problems and resolve their conflicts.
At Academy of Little Learners, we believe for a child every experience is an opportunity to learn how to be confident, competent humans, who can contribute to the world their own individual qualities and the capability to make a difference. Every moment of a child’s life is an unprecedented opportunity so precious they will last their lifetime. We value the opportunity to teach, nurture, inspire and foster those experiences a privilege and an honor.
As early childhood educators, we believe that every child is unique and special. Every child can contribute to the world their own individual qualities and the capability to make a difference. To help make this possible it is imperative that our children start with a strong and encouraging foundation from their families, communities, and teachers. Building this foundation means that the teachers and caregivers working with children provide an environment that is rich with love, compassion, and the willingness to develop as early childhood professionals so that we are able to meet the children’s needs. We believe it is necessary that people working with children know and understand how children develop.
We believe as professionals and caregivers it is our responsibility to make the children a priority by providing an environment that is safe, healthy and assures that developmentally appropriate practices are in place and being used with the children on a daily basis to ensure that children’s cognitive, social-emotional, physical, and creative needs are being met. We believe that every child deserves to be in a high-quality program where each child has developmentally appropriate learning opportunities and where his or her own unique interests are included and accepted by others. We believe that a quality program forms a strong partnership with parents and caregivers in ways that incorporate and value their firsthand knowledge in planning for their child’s learning. Finally, we believe that as early childhood professionals we have the awesome responsibility to encourage young children to be the best they can be. We can support every child in meeting this goal by providing love, support, knowledge, and materials to do so.
